Your opportunity

Are you a persuasive writer with a strategic mindset and a passion for social impact?

We are looking for Senior a Tender & Bid Writer to lead the development of high-quality tender, grant and proposal submissions that secure crucial funding for our growing portfolio of social and affordable housing and community services projects across Australia.

In this vital role, you'll be at the forefront of identifying and pursuing national and local funding opportunities, responding to Government tenders, and developing proactive bids that align with Mission Australia's vision to end homelessness and strengthen communities. You'll work closely with a range of internal stakeholders-from housing operations to finance, strategy and community services-as well as external partners, to shape strong, evidence-based submissions that stand out for their clarity, quality, and impact.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Maintain systems, databases, and workspaces using Mission Australia Housings' business development tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Dynamics 365 and Power BI.
  • Use Mission Australia's preferred project management methodology to coordinate tender and bid preparation.
  • Use data in the relevant MA and MAH reporting systems to contribute to Business Development reporting, including trend and theme analysis.
  • Support development of and grow expertise in new MA and MAH reporting and record systems as they are planned, built and implemented by internal/external teams.
  • Build effective and productive working relationships with Mission Australia Housing Growth and/or Community Services teams and enabling functions and follow their expert guidance and direction as required.
  • Work alongside Mission Australia's Executives, General Manager Business Development and/or other leaders on special projects as the need arises.
  • Take up the delegation and duties of the Lead Bid Manager when required

Requirements for success

  • Undergraduate qualification in relevant discipline (preferred).
  • 3 years'+ experience in tender/grant writing or business development.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful submission of funding applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working and collaborating effectively with others, ensuring key stakeholders are involved, sharing information and ensuring people are kept informed of progress, changes and issues.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of issues in the community housing and/or community services sectors, including Government funding practices and opportunities.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills with experience writing tenders, grants, and supporting material such as reports, summaries and pitch documents.
  • Action oriented and takes accountability to achieve results in line with set timeframes.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills, demonstrating the ability to present information, make decisions and reason confidently, clearly and concisely selecting the appropriate medium.
  • Ability to meet limited timeframes for tenders and need to conduct thorough research and evidence gathering to support the development of quality tenders.
  • Skilled in using relevant software applications (Microsoft Office suite), Teams, Sharepoint and Dynamics 365 platforms.
