Your Opportunity

Step into a pivotal role where your expertise in health and safety can truly make a difference. As a Work Health & Safety Business Partner with Mission Australia, you'll be at the forefront of creating safer workplaces, working alongside the WHS & Wellbeing Team Leader to deliver high-quality WHS support across a diverse national portfolio.

In this role, you won't just be monitoring safety-you'll be actively identifying trends, spotting risks, and designing innovative solutions that shape our approach to workplace health. You'll work with managers and teams across the organisation, guiding and influencing them to adopt best practices and embedding a culture of safety and wellbeing in every corner of Mission Australia.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support business units in improving safety performance by identifying practical solutions and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of corrective actions following incidents, risk assessments, and compliance activities to ensure safety standards are upheld.
  • Oversee incident reporting processes to ensure compliance with regulations, and promote early identification and intervention of safety hazards and incidents.
  • Provide expert advice on risk management, including the identification, implementation, and monitoring of effective risk controls, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture, offering coaching and guidance, as well as developing and delivering WHS training programs.
  • Conduct health & safety audits and inspections, identify potential hazards/ risks and report to the WHS & Wellbeing Team Leader.

Requirements for Success

  • Minimum Diploma in WHS
  • ICAM experience highly desirable
  • Cert IV in training highly desirable
  • 5 years' experience in Work Health & Safety (WHS), with strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks, implement controls, and support continuous safety improvements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence and engage teams while fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments, with a focus on developing and monitoring corrective actions.
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, deliver WHS training, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Current valid drivers license

NOTE: Depending on the successful candidate's location, and portfolio of states being supported by the role, interstate travel may be required on occasion.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
