The MJD Foundation (MJDF) partners with and supports Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families living with Machado Joseph Disease (MJD) and Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 7 (SCA7) to live fulfilling and rewarding lives. By providing flexible and culturally responsive care based on a strong foundation of enduring relationships, we aim to provide families living with MJD specialist care and support, working together to stay stronger for longer. We are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant to join our Team in Darwin or Sydney (Mortdale).

The Position

The Management Accountant plays a key role as part of our finance team providing high quality financial support. The Management Accountant will be a service-oriented and experienced professional with at least 5 years’ experience in accounting and a relevant tertiary degree. The role involves managing accounts, NDIS claiming, reporting, budgeting, payroll oversight, supporting the Director of Finance & Operations (DFO) and supporting or leading finance process improvement projects. The varied responsibilities involve opportunities for professional growth and development.

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Proven experience managing payroll functions, including compliance with Australian regulations and BAS submissions.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Proven experience analysing financial reports and implementing improvements to work more effectively.
  • Highly developed ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to resolve matters professionally and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, maintain confidentiality, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (intermediate to advanced skills) and capacity to quickly develop competency using specialised software programs.
  • Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge within the organisation.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
  • Experience working with MYOB.
  • Experience working in a Not-for-profit, grant-funded, organisation.
  • CA or CPA qualification.
