Ward E is a 30 bed adult acute mental health unit that provides treatment, care and support during an acute phase of mental illness. Consumers remain in the unit until they have recovered to the point where they can be treated effectively and safety in the community. The unit provides a range of therapeutic interventions and programs available to consumers and their families to learn more about the impact of the illness, explore ways to better manage the illness, improve coping strategies and move towards recovery.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Grade 1 or Grade 2 Occupational Therapist for the role on Ward E. This is a fixed term position until 19.02.2024.
The Occupational Therapist will work alongside our Senior Occupational Therapist and Graduate Occupational Therapist. You will be ensuring patients admitted to Ward E have an OT specific functional assessment where indicated as well as participating in the delivery of a range of evidence based individual and group OT interventions. You will be working collaboratively with the Nurse Manager and Ward E leadership group to develop, participate, implement and evaluate innovative and recovery focused initiatives and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the treatment, care and support available for patients and their families and carers. You will Liaise and collaborate with the Mental Health Program Manager NDIS interface to ensure that patients are supported to access the NDIS, and to derive maximal benefit as a participant in the scheme.

You are an enthusiastic and innovative Occupational Therapist who enjoys working as part if a multidisciplinary team work. You have a sound knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, including the principles that underpin the legislation. You also have a sound understanding of the NDIS and the important role it can play in providing psychosocial disability support for persons living with mental illness.
