Our Journey

Our Community Care Unit (CCU) in Doveton is a 20 bed psychosocial residential facility that provides a client focused recovery and rehabilitation program within a community setting. We provide specialist input, assessment and short to medium term therapeutic interventions/case management to assist clients in their recovery journey with 24hr clinical support, psychiatric health care & psychosocial rehabilitation in a residential setting.

Doveton Community Care Unit requires a highly skilled Grade 2 Occupational Therapist with the skills and experience to work within a recovery orientated care framework whilst working collaboratively with consumers, carers/families, and the multi-disciplinary team. This is a Full time permanent ongoing position working Monday to Friday.

A Day in the Life

Doveton CCU provides community residential psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers (18-64 years old) who have a serious mental illness and associated psychosocial constraints. Doveton CCU provides a home-like environment where consumers can continue their recovery from mental illness and develop their skills and capacity for independent living in order to facilitate a transition to the community. Doveton CCU offers an initial four week residential assessment that may be followed by a medium-term psychosocial rehabilitation program based on individual needs.

You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and will provide specialist skills to residents of the CCU. You will conduct client assessment and intervention independently, incorporating remedial, compensatory, educational and preventative strategies to achieve optimal evidence-based consumer care and to support consumer health and wellbeing through occupation and consideration of the person and their environment.

Your aim will be to facilitate the improvement of mental state and quality of life of consumers, maintaining their independence in the community wherever possible. You will look to achieve this through assessment, emphasis on functional status, and the utilization of compensatory as well as rehabilitative methods, to achieve functional gains in independence. This approach is crucial as functional performance levels determine community independence options.

Whilst the position is based at Doveton CCU, you may be required to work in other parts of the Adult Mental Health Service.
