About the Organisation

Moreland Community Child Care Centres (MCCCC) is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation operating three early childhood services:

  • Mitchell Street
  • Tinning Street
  • Dunstan Reserve

We offer a quality early learning program based on best practice, to meet the multifaceted needs of the children in our care. We offer a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore their creativity, intellect, physical abilities and unique talents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Committee of Management (or Board of Directors), the CoM is the legally constituted body that holds the licence to provide childcare and manage MCCCC. While the day to day operations are managed by our Director and Management Team, the CoM is responsible for strategic and governance decisions.

The committee currently comprises parents and guardians of children who attend our services. We have grown over the past few years and are undergoing improvements to our governance processes and systems including professionalising our committee through external members.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking candidates with the following experience or interest who are committed to good governance who possess skills, experience or interest in the areas below.

  • Finance/accounting
  • Human Resources
  • Grant applications
  • Fundraising
  • Senior generalist management
  • Marketing, media and communications

BENEFITS IN UNDERTAKING THIS ROLE

The early years sector is undergoing a period of significant change, you will have the opportunity utilise your skills and interest, working with like-minded people to set the strategic direction of the MCCCC and respond to our changing landscape.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to experience how a Board operates, learn to manage a business, influence, design and execute strategy, and the skills necessary to ensure good governance. This volunteer role would suit someone looking to gain skills at an executive level or someone who is experienced and looking to take on a leading role.

TIME REQUIRED:

Meeting attendance - 6 meetings per year and an AGM (approximately 2 hours per meeting), 2-3 hours reading materials and responding to actions in between meetings.

DURATION:

12 months (with a general expected tenure of 3 years)
