About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Arts, Culture and Community the core responsibilities include:

  • Leading change across the function to drive creation of a contemporary Library service with creative vision and innovation with consideration to workforce planning and agile resource management.
  • Building team performance through continuous improvement approaches that address staff morale and engagement, utilising transformational leadership to enable innovation.
  • Collaborating with officers across the organisation to achieve timely and appropriate outcomes related to facility planning, technology enhancements, space design, pioneering policy and strategy development.
  • Initiate cross-organisational and multi-organisational planning, coordination, delivery and post-implementation analysis, review and improvement of library programs and services.
  • Drive improvement initiatives for planning, monitoring, reporting and tracking of the service and its portfolio of initiatives using the project management framework of Council.

About You

  • We are seeking applications from experienced people leaders with demonstrated experience of embedding a culture of continuous improvement and driving high performance in a service delivery environment.
  • The leadership style required for success in this role is one that promotes engagement, collaboration, and adaptability, with the ability to align a large team towards a shared goal.
  • Extensive experience in implementing innovation and change in library services or a complex, customer orientated environment is important, with the ability to deliver creative, technology inspired and educational initiatives that respond to community needs.
  • The ability to think strategically and creatively when managing a large team is essential, as are excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels from front-line staff up to Executive.
