About us

Since 1998, Mother’s Day Classic Foundation has donated over $40 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to fund life-saving breast cancer research. The Mother’s Day Classic Foundation is proud to be the largest single donor to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). Over the past 23 years, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer has increased from 84% to 91.5%, largely thanks to generous donations from the Mother’s Day Classic community.

Qualifications & experience

  • 3-5 years of senior event management experience or equivalent
  • Experience in managing major events (essential)
  • Experience in managing community events (high desirable)
  • Experience in managing systems and processes
  • Experience in project management (essential) (Smartsheet knowledge desirable)
  • Experience in procurement and logistics
  • Strong knowledge and experience in one or more of the following:
    • Commercial/Contract Management
    • Risk Management
    • Financial Management
    • Marketing / sponsorship

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Event Operations - Key contributor to the concept and feasibility of the MDC events strategy and oversee the smooth delivery of all MDC events across Australia and in line with the events strategy.
  • Relationship Management - Oversee contracted event managers to ensure the effective event management of participants, volunteers, sponsors and suppliers as well as area stakeholders such as emergency services, venues and councils.
  • Organisational Management - Support the development and management of the operating budget for each major event and ensure event is delivered on time, in scope and within budget.
  • Risk Management - Facilitate the development, distribution, completion and compliance of the event risk management programme, including compliance with legislative, licensing and permit requirements (note a risk management consultant is appointed to support)
  • Local Events - Manage the overall Local Events and Local Event Hosts programme across Australia. As well as manage the update of the Local website event pages, database and email inbox and develop and implement strategies for Local event growth and target new areas.
  • Systems - Familiarisation with all MDC systems and support Event Services Manager with building, managing, and maintaining the Participant registration systems
