About Moving Forward

Moving Forward is a specialist case management service for women and children who are experiencing, escaping, or have left domestic and family violence situations. We provide comprehensive practical support through trauma informed, strengths based, and client centred case management, as well as therapeutic and educational workshops and support groups within the communities we serve.

We are a small team of passionate woman committed to helping and supporting other women and children in our community to better understand the cycles of DFV and unsafe relationships, and to reclaim their lives through empowerment and education.

About the role

The DFV Case Manager plays a pivotal role in providing specialist support and collaborative case management to woman and children who are experiencing, escaping, or have left domestic and family violence situations, some of which includes the development of risk assessment and safety plans, advocacy, referral and coordination, and attending meetings to support clients to achieve their goals.

The role will contribute to, and at times lead key programs such as therapeutic and educational program, support groups program, public workshops and campaigns. The role will contribute to shaping the next phase of Moving Forward and its future directions within the local communities, and explore in greater depth the intersectionality of health, homelessness, addictions, physical health and general wellbeing, within the lives of those who experience DFV.

The position is part-time 21 hours per week (workdays are flexible and to be negotiated with suitable applicant) and is a 12 month fixed term contract with a potential for extension beyond the initial contracted period. The role is based in Hurstville NSW, with public transport (trains and buses) at the office doorstep, and a short 17 minute express train ride from Sydney's central station.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have prior experience in case management/work or related roles, particularly in domestic and family violence or social work settings.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of domestic and family violence, trauma informed practice, and relevant legislation related to child protection, DFV, and privacy.
  • Hold relevant qualifications in community services, social work, psychology, or a related field, with training in trauma informed practice.
  • Have prior experience in working collaboratively with other organisations including attending interagencies and SAMS meetings.
  • Experience with Client Information Management (CIMS) system and maintaining client data.
  • Understanding of risk assessments, safety management strategies, and mandatory reporting.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • A capacity to work under pressure and at times autonomously.
  • An enquiring mindset and enjoy innovation and change.
  • It is advantageous for the incumbent to be bi/multilingual from a CALD background.
  • Hold current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
