About Moving Forward
Moving Forward is a specialist case management service for women and children who are experiencing, escaping, or have left domestic and family violence situations. We provide comprehensive practical support through trauma informed, strengths based, and client centred case management, as well as therapeutic and educational workshops and support groups within the communities we serve.

About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced DFV Specialist Caseworker to join our team of passionate woman making a difference in the lives of people who experience DFV.
The DFV Specialist Caseworker (Caseworker) will work closely with a small, managing intake and enquires, assessing client’s safety and needs, developing support plans in collaboration with the client and making referrals as required. The role will assist in the design, delivery, and evaluation of workshops, support groups and other groups as required, and will have a focus on community development relating to specific funded projects. Overarchingly, the Caseworker will provide trauma informed and client centred practices which help women and children to move forward from DFV.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Respond to referrers of clients and undertake intake assessments in preparation for case management and following up with clients in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with clients to develop, monitor and evaluate support plans.
- Undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans as required.
- Liaise with organisations and make appropriate referrals as required.
- Assist with the development, delivery, and evaluation of workshops, support groups and other groups as required.
- Liaise with external services, attending interagency meetings and maintaining partnerships with government and non-government organisations
- Monitor and respond to the admin@ emails on a daily basis.
- Engage with all internal and external stakeholders from a trauma informed and person-centred approach at all times.
- Maintain accurate and timely client files and other reporting records in line with organisational, legislative and funding requirements.
- Work with the team on projects and programs.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Comply with all Moving Forward policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
The position is part time 28 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) and is a 12 month fixed term contract with a potential for extension beyond the initial contracted period. The role is based in Hurstville NSW, with public transport (trains and buses) at the office doorstep, and a short 17 minute express train ride from Sydney's Central Station.
Remuneration: SCHADS level 4.1 ($43.08 per hour)

About you
- Commitment and understanding of the values which underpin Moving Forwards mission and purpose.
- Qualifications in social work, psychology, human services or related field.
- Solid experience in case management, preferably in DFV or related field.
- Understanding of family violence and child protections sectors, Including mandatory reporting, duty of care, legislation, policies, and practice frameworks.
- Relevant work experience in supporting woman and children through case management, including risk assessments, safety planning, service intervention and referral pathways.
- Ability to work sensitively with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD individuals, and LGBTQIA+ clients
- Relevant experience in maintaining case notes and timely reporting to funding bodies
- Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, and high-level problem solving and organisational management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Capacity to work under pressure and at times autonomously.
- Hold current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance obtained in the past 6 months.
Desirable
- Multilingual
- Prior training in DFV (ie ECAV trained in DFV)
- Experience in program development and evaluation
- First Aid certification
- Parenting program trainer (ie BUGK)
- Experience with social media platforms and communication.
