MS Australia is Australia’s national multiple sclerosis (MS) not-for-profit organisation that empowers researchers to identify ways to treat, prevent and seek to cure MS, seeks sustained and systemic policy change via advocacy, and acts as the champion for Australia’s community of people affected by MS.

We are the largest Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to funding, coordinating, educating, and advocating for MS research as part of the worldwide effort to solve MS.

About the role:

  • Contract22.8 hours per week (flexible) to 30 September 2026
  • Canberra location / Hybrid / Other locations considered
  • Inclusive and dynamic team

Provide policy advice and analysis on issues relevant to people with MS including:

  • Monitor, identify and respond to new and emerging policy issues affecting people living with MS
  • Draft and contribute to a range of documents, including policy submissions, position statements, briefing notes, correspondence and reports to meet internal and external reporting requirements
  • Undertake background research and analysis to assist in the development of policy submissions.
  • Prioritise the perspectives of people with lived experience including:
    • Managing MS Australia’s Lived Experience Expert Panel (LEEP)
    • Incorporating lived experience into policy submissions, reports, meetings, engagements and external communications
    • Maintaining effective relationships with the MS community.

About you:

  • Experience in a policy environment includes drafting and contributing to effective and strategic policy submissions and policy position papers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level research and analytical skills
  • An understanding of the issues impacting people living with disability
  • Tertiary qualifications in health, social sciences, public policy or similar field
  • Experience engaging with and incorporating lived experience perspectives into professional work
