    About us 

    The aims of Malvern Special Needs Playgroup are:
    • To support children who have special needs by offering regular developmental play sessions under the supervision of a kindergarten teacher, therapists and a team of assistant volunteers (one per child).
    • To offer parents respite and the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other parents and professionals.
    It should be mentioned that Malvern Special Needs Playgroup is unique in Victoria.  No other group offers the one-on-one support from the volunteers along with the wonderful work of the therapists and kindergarten teacher for pre-school children with special needs from as young as 6 months.

    about the PROGRAM

    For children under the age of 6 who have a developmental delay – intellectual, physical, language or social – Malvern Special Needs Playgroup provides activities suitable to the developmental level and physical abilities of each child.
    Sessions are held between 10 am and 2 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during term time for up to 11 children per session.  The children are organised and supervised by professional staff - a Physiotherapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Speech Pathologist and a Kindergarten Teacher.  Volunteers (one per child) ensure each child is able to participate in and enjoy play.  A Coordinator ensures everything runs smoothly.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    1. Process payroll for 5 employees. 
    2. Process and pay expenses. 
    3. Process quarterly BAS payments. 
    4. Prepare annual financial statements and quarterly reports for the Committee and funding bodies. 
    5. Manage bank accounts and investments. 
    6. Additional tasks as required.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    1. Minimum of a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or qualified Accountant (essential). 
    2. Excellent communication skills. 
    3. Eye for detail. 
    4. Able to work in a team as well as independently. 
    5. Experience using MYOB (preferable). 
    6. Experience using Google Drive (preferable).

    Experience:

    • Two years' experience in a similar role (preferable).
