Multicultural Hub Canberra (mHUB) is managed by Queanbeyan Multilingual Centre Inc and provides support services for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Canberra and the SE NSW region. These services include the integrated welcome service, migrant/refugee settlement services, multicultural youth services, multicultural women’s services, multicultural employment service and the multicultural counselling service.

Multicultural Employment Consultant Duties:

  • Identify relevant job placement opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse community members.
  • Interview assess and coordinate clients into job placement.
  • Support the MES Manager to deliver all employment outcomes across all five offices as required.
  • Engage with relevant agencies & services to create networks for referral pathways.
  • Engage with potential employers to address barriers to employment for CALD community members.
  • Inform clients of their employment rights, responsibilities, and entitlements.
  • Provide administrative support to the MES Manager, including capturing client data, assisting with the annual funding report and any other administrative support that may be required.
  • To promote and advertise all QMLC programs and activities as required.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and maintain a high level of workplace harmony.
  • Comply with QMLC’s Workplace Health and Safety Policy and Code of Conduct.
  • Other relevant duties as requested by the QMLC Director and MES Manager that are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary study in social welfare or related discipline
  • Excellent interpersonal rapport, personal management and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people from diverse language and cultural backgrounds
  • Understanding of multicultural individuals and community settlement challenges including employment
  • Knowledge of and experience with employment services and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work as part of a small team.
  • Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated experience in client-centred case management
  • Possess a current C class or equivalent driving license and willing to travel
  • Working With Vulnerable People Card

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the SCHCADS Award level 6.1 plus super.
