Bigiswun Youth Social Emotional Wellbeing Service (YSEWB) provides services to 17-25-year-olds in the Fitzroy Valley. Bigiswun (YSEWB) can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drug services, work/study support, and connection to cultural activities. We work in male and female two-way teams to provide culturally appropriate and safe service to young people in the Fitzroy Valley.

Bigiswun Youth Social Emotional Wellbeing Counsellors will uphold the values of Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre and provide good quality services.
The Social Emotional Wellbeing Counsellor engages with young people and Community to support access to various services that assist with daily living. The role of the SEWB Counsellor is to work in a two-way team partnership with SEWB workers to provide a range of culturally appropriate services that include practical support, advocacy, clinical yarning, one-on-one and group in Community and Country activities that support young people’s mental health and holistic social and emotional wellbeing.

Bigiswun Youth Social and Emotional Wellbeing Counsellors provide culturally safe support and mentoring to young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people aged 17-25 who live in the Fitzroy Valley. You will work within a two-way team to engage with young people and families in a strengths-based and choice-focused way.
The Social and Emotional Wellbeing Counsellor position within Bigiswun aims to support young people who present with a range of issues, from difficulties with accessing birth certificates and ID, looking for support to connect with culture and Community, through to requiring support with NDIS or physical or mental health difficulties. The role is to strengthen access to trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, flexible support that meets the needs of young people.
In this role, you will be well supported by a team and work closely with staff across Bigiswun, the Marulu strategy team and the broader Marninwarntikura services to provide flexible and thoughtful social and emotional well-being, mental health and practical support You will aim to help young people understand the impact of mental and physical health and the importance of prioritising their wellbeing. You will also strive to ensure young people feel good about seeking help and accessing support, offering clinical yarning and access to counselling when required.
Please note: Before commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months), and a current Western Australia manual driver’s licence.
