National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation

About NACCHO

The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body for 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs), delivering holistic, community-driven primary health care across Australia.

We work with governments and stakeholders to reform health systems, focusing on chronic disease, mental health, social and emotional wellbeing, and the cultural determinants of health. This is a powerful moment for reform, and NACCHO is at the forefront—especially in Closing the Gap.

About the Role

As Communications Officer – Aged Care, you’ll be a key part of the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team, leading strategies to promote NACCHO’s Elder Care Support (ECS) Program and other aged care initiatives.

Funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care and delivered by 107 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, the ECS Program supports older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families. You’ll work closely with NACCHO’s Aged Care Programs team and external stakeholders to deliver culturally responsive, engaging communications that make a real impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Roll out engaging comms for the ECS Program—campaigns, content, and creative strategies.
  • Partner with ACCHOs and Aboriginal media to get the word out.
  • Create newsletters, reports, and branded assets with heart and impact.
  • Track campaign results and make them even better.
  • Support NACCHO’s broader communications mission where needed.

What You Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, PR, or a related field.
  • Experience in media and campaign management—bonus points for health or aged care focus.
  • Savvy with social media and digital tools (Canva, Adobe, Hootsuite).
  • Stellar writing and storytelling skills.
  • An understanding of and connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and communities.

Be part of transformational change in aged care.
