The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs). These services provide comprehensive primary health care to over half of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationwide, addressing health and wellbeing holistically from community empowerment to individual treatments.
NACCHO advocates for ACCHOs by working with governments and stakeholders on healthcare policies, programs, and system reforms. Key focus areas include chronic disease management, preventative health, mental health, social and emotional well-being, and the cultural determinants of health.
This is an exciting time for health sector reform, and NACCHO plays a critical role in driving progress, particularly through the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
This is an exciting opportunity to join NACCHO as a Senior Policy Advisor. You will provide high-level, advice and advocacy on complex and sensitive policy matters that contribute to NACCHO’s and stakeholders’ strategic policy direction.
They oversee the provision of complex correspondence and documentation for the Executive, Board and other stakeholders and maintain accurate records of discussions and decisions. They also work under broad direction and use initiative to lead and advance the development of high-quality policy advice.
This role provides evidence-based policy expertise to support the community-controlled sector improve access and utilisation of disability supports and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability. This will be achieved through the delivery of high-quality research and sector consultation, analysis and policy setting, including contributing to the development and implementation of NACCHO’s strategies and policies.
