The National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect (NAPCAN) is a national provider in promoting quality child abuse prevention training and research. We are advocates for changes in policies and strategies that place the wellbeing and safety of children and young people first.
Your Role:
The Accounts Officer will be responsible for the financial bookkeeping and records of the organisation. Duties include Accounts Payable & Receivable, reconciliations, and payroll. The Accounts Officer will work with staff and report to the Finance Manager to ensure the organisation’s finances are accurately recorded.
Location: Sydney based, working from home. Please note applicant needs to be based in Sydney due to occasional travel involved.

Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to update and maintain a payroll system and the ability to extract and analyse data. Experience with payroll software, preferably QBO payroll, is desirable.
- Understanding of payroll legislation and processes i.e. tax and superannuation, and SCHADS Awards interpretation is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in data entry or accounts reconciliation while maintaining a high level of accuracy, strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated initiative, proven organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage workflow and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to challenges, to work effectively in a small, diverse and busy team environment with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated customer service ethic and the ability to respond to questions and queries from internal and external clients in a timely, respectful and effective manner.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with cross functional teams.
Desirable Criteria:
- Accounting Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year experience as an accountant or bookkeeper, in a not-for-profit sector
- Experience with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award
What you'll need to succeed:
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Collaborative and proactive problem-solving approach.
