The Role

Reports to: Communications & Advocacy Manager

Departmental Structure: This position will play a pivotal part in the effectiveness and success of the National Justice Project’s Fundraising and Communications team and work in close collaboration with our Projects and Innovation team.

Primary Purpose:

The National Justice Project is looking for a vibrant Communications and Events Coordinator to help us produce compelling campaigns and engaging events.

You will assist in the production of communication materials from social media and website content to newsletters and fundraising campaigns.

You will assist in the planning and logistics of small and large events both online and in-person in our busy calendar ahead to celebrate NJP’s 10th year.

Key Result Areas

GROWTH: grow NJP awareness and brand through supporter and stakeholder communications and events

AWARENESS: grow community and sector awareness through communications and events

ENGAGEMENT: Assist in creating strategies for supporter communications and events for growing engagement

TIMELINESS: ensure that NJP communications and events are delivered in a timely way

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with fundraising and communications campaign content planning and execution
  • Copywriting to produce engaging and effective content for communications, marketing and fundraising
  • Planning, organising and delivering events including webinars for community and stakeholder engagement as well as media monitoring and social media platforms.

Personal Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking your work and other activities with integrity whilst upholding the organisation’s values and in particular, ensuring a people-first approach across our staff, volunteers, supporters and clients;
  • Supporting team cohesion in a flexible and friendly manner;
  • Protecting and enhancing the reputation of the organisation;
  • Executing the tasks that are assigned to you to a high standard;
  • Meet objectives and deliverables in a timely manner; and
  • Maintaining positive relationships with NJP’s partner organisations and the wider community.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Assist with website administration (Wordpress) and the administration of key digital tools including Mailchimp and Canva as well as media monitoring and social media platforms.
  • Support the Fundraising and Communications team as needed.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Study in a relevant tertiary level qualification, ideally in communications, marketing, fundraising or events management
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar role with demonstrated content creation and copywriting skills
  • A passion for human rights and social justice, in particular in relation to Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander people and refugees/asylum seekers;

The successful candidate must be proficient in the following core skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • An ability to manage multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills; and
  • Experience working both independently with minimal supervision and as a part of a team.
