Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Dietitian Assistant to join the team at Nepean Hospital on a Permanent Full Time basis. The successful candidate will provide optimal nutritional care (with the guidance of a Clinical Dietitian) to all patients in wards assigned to them and act as a liaison between the Dietetics Department, nursing and food service personnel.

The Dietitian Assistant will be responsible for obtaining daily patient menu selections, entering menu selections into computer system, meal tray-line supervision, malnutrition screening and documentation, and ensuring meal and mid-meal accuracy.

selection criteria

  1. Dietary Practices Certificate or Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain
  2. Knowledge and understanding of NSW-wide therapeutic diets, with experience using them in a hospital setting an advantage
  3. Proven ability to provide consistently good levels of customer service to hospital patients
  4. Demonstrated evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience within multi-disciplinary teams
  5. Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently, while managing a high paced and high volume workload
  6. High level computer skills in a wide variety of applications/programs, including experience with Diet Office/Food service IT systems
  7. Skills, knowledge and experience in food safety
  8. Current NSW driver’s licence, or equivalent
