About the role
- Part Time position (0.8FTE negotiable)
- Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2019 (with possible extension)
- Geelong location, however will be required to work mobile across the Geelong Otway catchment
- Above Award Salary: Health Professional Employee Level 2, HPSS Award 2010 - $78,000 pa pro rata ($39.47 per hour)
STEPMI (Services and Treatment for Enduring and Persistent Mental Illness) is a new Neami service located in Geelong covering the LGA’s of Greater Geelong, Queenscliff, Surf Coast, Colac Otway and Golden Plains. As an Allied Health Worker – Occupational Therapist you will engage with clients, clinicians, and the consumer’s treatment team, their family, friends and carers to provide high quality assessments and interventions aimed at improving mental health outcomes for clients. In this role, there is a strong focus on fostering trust and delivering clinical treatment planning, care co-ordination and one on one interventions.
Core duties
- Working collaboratively with consumers and their families
- Coordinate client therapeutic interventions by formulating shared treatment plans
- Maintain records and resources
- Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships
- Support the continuity of client care and information flow between consumers, staff and external workers and agencies.
- Collect, collate and maintain data on consumer contact
What will you bring to the role?
- Relevant clinical experience working within a rehabilitation/recovery setting
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues relevant to people with mental illness living in the community
- Demonstrated skills in the provision of high quality assessments and interventions
- Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with a range of evidence-based treatments including CBT, DBT and ACT desirable
Mandatory requirements:
- AHPRA Registration
- Accreditation (or working towards accreditation) by Occupational Therapy Australia as having a minimum of two years’ experience in mental health.
- Current Working with Children Check
- Australian Working Rights
- Drivers licence
- Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
