Counsellor - Gosford / Bateau Bay

Based out of NSW Health Gateway building in Gosford & our Bateau Bay office, the Counsellor Family Intervention Clinician (FIC) is responsible for the delivery of clinical family therapy intervention to clients with complex mental health needs from the Central Coast Local Health District Mental Health Service and their carers/families.

The role will involve supporting the establishment of clinical service pathways between Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) and Community Managed Organisations (CMO) with the aim of enhancing ongoing access to family therapy and support services for clients and their family.

This will include support with service navigation and access; establishing and strengthening working partnerships with other service providers; streamlining referral pathways; and providing education to CCLHD staff regarding clinical family interventions.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful you will have:

  • Degree in in Psychology, Counselling, Family Therapy, Social Work or equivalent
  • Drivers Licence
  • Up to date with Flu & COVID vaccinations
  • Clear to work WWCC
  • Willingness to undertake Criminal History Check & functional pre employment medical assessment
  • Current First Aid Certificate

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Post graduate qualification and/or relevant industry experience in the delivery of clinical family therapy services to clients with complex mental health needs and their families.
  • Skills in assessment, referrals, and co-ordination of care for young people
  • Demonstrated ability to use person centred frameworks and a strengths-based approach in providing casework and counselling using appropriate models of intervention and a range of counselling/therapeutic approaches
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and an understanding of mediation and conflict resolution
  • High-level negotiation, communication and facilitation skills including delivering education and presentations to staff and managers.
  • Understanding of the principles of Recovery Oriented Mental Health Practice.
