PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

In your role as Senior Analyst, Economic and Energy Market Modelling, you will lead modelling and analysis on a wide range of industry, energy market and economic issues to inform policy direction. This is a great opportunity to provide economic modelling and analytical advice for Nexa’s diverse clients, and lead the development, project management and evaluation of modelling and research projects. You will develop and help to communicate analysis for clients, as well as for Nexa’s advocacy and industry insights.

  • Ability to provide plain English analysis for modelling results to audiences with varying degrees of economic and energy literacy.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, business, finance, commerce or other field undertaking significant statistical analysis, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of the energy industry
  • Demonstrated economic modelling experience as well as previous experience undertaking research and analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

You will identify emerging issues, coordinate, and undertake applied financial, market and economic analysis that informs and improves client strategy, policy development, regulatory reform and client outcomes and help deliver the objectives of Nexa Advisory. You will also be:

  • Building and reviewing market and economic modelling using relevant analytical tools and software
  • Preparing documentation and reports on analytical and economic methods and results
  • Contributing and advising on economic, market and quantitative analysis methods
  • Contribute to submissions, reports and articles with in-depth analysis and insights
  • Publish regular reports analysing various aspects of the industry
  • Work with other organisations supplying economic modelling and analysis to meet their needs on a commercial basis

KEY CHALLENGES

  • Keeping abreast of climate and energy policy developments in the state and national arena and understanding the impact that these may have on the analytical work being undertaken.
  • Navigating a complex stakeholder environment and negotiating data availability constraints in an environment of competing priorities.
