About the opportunity

The Financial Accountant will lead the small Finance team of Accounts Officers. The role actively strives to work collaboratively with all areas of the organisation to provide a customer-focused finance service that delivers innovative solutions and improved practices.

Provide financial support to all teams at Nexus in the area of:

  • Financial reporting and answering financial queries
  • Providing support and advice to the accounts team and management
  • Undertaking work of investigative and analytical nature with a view to problem solve and make improvements
  • Assisting with the identification and introduction of improvements to finance related systems and processes
  • Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and ensuring timely follow up of any matter
  • Managing and maintaining complex and accurate accounting information on assets; and
  • Preparation of various statutory returns

The successful individual will work with Managers and Team Leader to analyse key financial information and business performance and develop and implement strategies to reduce businesses' operational and production costs.

Based at our Broadford Office however from time to time you may be required to work at other sites including Seymour, Wallan and Kinglake.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance or similar.
  • CPA or CA qualifications or working towards (desirable).
  • Excellent knowledge of cost accounting and reporting practices.
  • Excellent knowledge or risk analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the health sector.
  • Working knowledge and interpretation of AASBs and knowledge of current financial accounting and reporting practices.
  • Experience with financial accounting software.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of the Microsoft family of products.
  • Excellent communication and well-developed report writing skills.
  • Well-developed organisation and time management skills, with demonstrated capacity to develop and implement activities independently and meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead change within the Finance team and across the organisation.
