Our Vision: Thriving Tasmanian Communities

Our Mission: A peak body supporting and growing our member network as leaders in place-based community development.

The Role of the Board

The NHT Board provides governance and strategic leadership for the organisation. The Board is committed to the principles of strong corporate governance, upholding the highest standards of ethical and responsible conduct in executing fiduciary duties.

Skills and Experience

In determining the suitability of a Nominee for the purposes of appointment to the Board, we will be assessing applicants based on the following criteria:

  • knowledge and experience in community development and/or with peak bodies,
  • governance knowledge and experience, legal, finance, risk, relevant community sector networks, government experience.

For this selection process the board is prioritising the following criteria:

  • governance experience and qualifications,
  • financial experience and qualifications. and
  • government experience.

There are three board positions available. Board terms are for a period of 3 years.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive organisation, and we welcome expressions of interest from Palawa and other First Nations people, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, people who are LGBTIQA+ and people with a disability.

If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application.

Time commitment

The NHT board meet bi-monthly with subcommittees that also meet regularly. It would be reasonable to assume a 5-6 hour a month commitment to the NHT Board for a general board director, this would be more for the President and Chairs of sub-committees.

Remuneration

A honorarium may be provided to board directors. Out of pocket expenses will be paid or reimbursed related to board activities.

If you would like a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Michelle Ewington via email: [email protected] using the subject line: Board Directors (Voluntary) enquiry via EthicalJobs.

A Board Nomination Pack is attached.
