About the opportunity

Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania (NHT) is hiring an Events Support Officer to assist the team with the delivery of key events in our annual calendar, including our conference and Neighbourhood House Week.

The role is part of a small, dynamic team, providing peak body functions to a Network of 32 Tasmanian Neighbourhood Houses. The team works collaboratively for social justice using a community development approach towards our vision for thriving Tasmanian communities.

Duration and hours

Commencing as soon as possible – 30 June 2025 (with potential for ongoing work up until September 2025).

Contract – 0.5 FTE (19 hours per week) – days and times of work flexible.

Pay and conditions

  • The terms and conditions are those applying under the Social, Community,Home Care and Disability Services (SCHCADS) Industry Award 2010.
  • The position is classified at Level 3, Pay Point 1 ($37.35 per hour).
  • Superannuation will be paid at the mandated rate to the fund of choice.

Selection criteria

Essential

  • Attention to detail, administration, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high level computer skills, particularly in the use of office software such as Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in coordinating events, meetings, or workshops, including logistical arrangements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to social justice and community development principles, and an awareness of the role of Neighbourhood Houses in Tasmania.
  • The capacity to work effectively both autonomously and in a team.
  • National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Card (or ability to obtain).

Desirable

  • Possession of a valid, open driver’s licence.
  • Experience in communications and/or engagement.
  • Experience with Drupal, MailChimp and/or Humanitix (or similar platforms).
