THE JOB

The Senior Engagement and Digital Communication Officer role reports to the Director, Engagement and Communication. 

The role provides a broad range of communications and engagement support to the Commission and undertakes tasks in communications, projects and stakeholder engagement activities.

The role requires a commitment to delivering high quality engagement and communications work in a busy and challenging environment. An integral part of this role is the ability to plan, monitor and report on the communications and engagement of the Commission, manage stakeholder relationships internally, and provide digital communications support for specific projects.

You will need to be a motivated self-starter, a clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills and be committed to the delivery of responsive communications. You will have proven experience in creating simple and clear communications that reflect key messages.

You will be required to undertake a range of administrative and process tasks associated with the delivery of communications and stakeholder engagement support. You will have strong digital communications skills and higher-level written and editing skills. Knowledge of the mental health sector would be an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and act as the Subject Matter Expert for the Commission’s CRM (Simply Stakeholders), Website (govCMS), Engagement Platform (Have Your Say), EDM platform (Campaign Monitor), Canva, and social media including LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Instagram.
  • Issuing a daily media report (Isentia) and managing the annual Mental Health calendar.
  • Track the performance of engagement channels monthly, including website, newsletters and social media – and prepare a report to the Executive twice annually on channel performance and recommendations. Track specific projects as requested.
  • Support engaging internal communications including weekly staff messages.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement and communication programs to support the Commission and projects across all areas. 
  • Contribute to the delivery of stakeholder engagement communication strategies for events, forums and policy submissions through the creation of digital assets such as PowerPoints, social media tiles, corporate videos, imagery, and photography (Using packages such as PowerPoint, Canva, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Indesign)
  • Manage and liaise with external suppliers and internal areas to develop project communications assets.
  • Other duties, as required.

  6. Job specific criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience in a digital communications role, preferably within a government, community services, mental health, or social justice organisation.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including proof reading, and maintaining and using brand and style guides and templates.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and developing online content across multiple platforms, including drafting copy, filming and editing videos, creating tiles, images and infographics.
  • Understanding and experience in internal and external stakeholder engagement. 

Remuneration

This position is at the APS6 level with a salary of $95,190 plus 15.4 per cent superannuation.

Tenure

This role is for full time ongoing employment. Non ongoing and/or part time opportunities may be considered. 

Eligibility

To be employed by the National Mental Health Commission applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent residency status pending the granting of Australian citizenship. 

Location

Sydney is preferred, but other locations may also be suitable. Flexible work and regular work-from-home arrangements are available.
