ABOUT US:

North Melbourne Language & Learning Inc. (NMLL) works with diverse and dynamic communities on the North Melbourne public housing estate and surrounding neighbourhoods. We deliver learning opportunities and community development programs for adult learners from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with an emphasis on building stronger communities.

The exciting opportunity available:

• Classroom Support Volunteers - working alongside our teachers and students to provide English Language support for our Cert 1 - Cert 3 English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes (Mondays-Wednesdays).

We ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week during school terms for a minimum period of 6 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Provide additional English language support individually and in groups (in some cases computer practise) for EAL students during classes under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
• Assist teachers with administrative duties including filing, photocopying and developing resources.
• Assist the EAL teacher to deliver planned classroom activities, games, and discussions.

PROCESS

• Applications are accepted on a rolling basis - due to the number of applications we are unable to respond to all applicants
• Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (preferably) or in person in January 2025
• Volunteers are expected to commence the week starting 1st of February 2025
