If you are skilled in GIS software, data management, and have a passion for contributing to Indigenous land rights and cultural preservation, join the NLC’s Anthropology team as a GIS Officer.
As a GIS Officer at NLC, you will manage and integrate GIS data related to land use agreements on Aboriginal land, supporting the Anthropology team in identifying Traditional Owner groups and spatial mapping for contracts. Your role includes preparing consultation and agreement maps, ensuring accurate data integration with CRM and RTA systems, and maintaining thematic regional maps. You will also assist in web mapping, guide junior staff, and provide training on GIS tools and field equipment, ensuring the smooth delivery of geospatial data across projects.
You will bring strong GIS skills and experience in data management, cartography, and spatial analysis. With proficiency in ArcGIS, SQL, and Python, you can efficiently create high-quality maps and integrate GIS data with key systems like CRM and RTA. Your experience with GPS technology and remote sensing will support accurate field data collection. Additionally, your excellent time management and organisational skills will ensure you meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks, and you’ll be able to provide clear guidance and training to junior staff and internal stakeholders.
