The Northern Land Council (NLC) was established 50 years ago under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act in 1976, to assist Aboriginal people in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their traditional lands, waters and seas. We are committed to enhancing Aboriginal peoples social, political and economic participation by supporting their aspirations and amplifying their voices on a range of issues impacting on their lands, seas, culture and communities.
The Ranger Coordinator position is responsible for working closely with NLC Caring for County (CFC) Service Manager and CFC Program staff, ensuring that the integration of Traditional Owner insights and stringent WH&S standards are at the forefront of all land and sea management activities. Based at the Kenbi Ranger Station this role is pivotal in supervising the works of the Kenbi Ranger team and conducting in-depth consultations with Traditional Owners to understand and prioritize their interests and goals for the Kenbi Aboriginal Land Trust.
This Coordinator role is hands on and I expected to lead, coordinate and monitor the ranger units operational service outcomes and performance in accordance with Kenbi ranger operational plans and NLC requirements. You will possess previous relevant experience and knowledge in operational works associated with Ranger functions such as weed management, fire management, patrol and contract management. Leading by example and fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing, especially when it comes to promoting safety initiatives and ensuring that all operations on the Kenbi Aboriginal Land Trust are conducted in a manner that prioritizes the health and safety of the team and the community will come naturally to you.
