  • Permanent full time position (76 hours per fortnight).
  • Eligible health practitioners entitled to accrue an additional three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum.
  • Eligible health practitioners working in designated remote areas will be entitled to a professional development allowance of $3,512.00 per annum.
  • Rural and Remote incentive: Category D allowance of $431.22 per fortnight.
  • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
  • Transfer and appointment expenses may be negotiated.

About the role

In this role you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that contributes to the provision of a comprehensive healthcare service across a range of acute, sub-acute, ambulatory, paediatric, maternal, and women’s health services. As a social worker within Growing Deadly Families team, you will be responsible for the delivery of efficient and effective social work services to women and their families.

Support and maximise the psychosocial functioning and adjustment of Maternal Health patients and their families through the provision of psychoeducation and facilitation of referrals, interprofessional practice, and community agency.

Engage with patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting as well as an extended hours roster, on call weekend service, and during outreach opportunities.

Requirements

  • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of possession of a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). 
  • It is a genuine occupational requirement that the incumbent to this position is a female due to the nature of the services provided to women in this role.
  • Applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander are encouraged to apply and will be highly regarded.
  • You must hold a Working with Children Blue Card prior to appointment to this position. Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
