ABOUT US

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women's Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are now recruiting for a Child Nutrition Development Officer in the Child and Family Wellbeing Service team (CFWS). This position is based in NPY Lands with some travel to Alice Springs. You will work collaboratively within the Child Nutrition Program to support families with children aged 0-5 years, especially those experiencing growth faltering. You will live, work and build lasting relationships within a local community and get to experience an amazing landscape. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference with aboriginal children and families.

As a Child Nutrition Development Officer you will work across a wide range of tasks including:

  • Complex Case Management
  • Community Education
  • Capacity building and collaboration across community services
  • Working with stores around nutrition health initiatives

ABOUT YOU

This rewarding role could suit a nutrition or health sciences professional wanting to gain invaluable experience, or professionals in other disciplines with transferable skills looking for a change (e.g. teachers, nurses, health care workers etc.). Experience working with remote Indigenous communities or vulnerable minority groups will be highly regarded.

We are looking for someone who is a team player, resilient and passionate about working alongside Anangu.

You will work within a supportive, trauma informed framework and we provide a comprehensive orientation program. You will receive best practice supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident de-briefing and a range of counseling services to support you.
