We are seeking experienced family lawyers who want to make a difference in the lives of women and children affected by domestic violence or family breakdown, by joining our team in either the Townsville or Cairns office.
Key responsibilities
- Commitment to NQWLS Values, Mission, Vision
- Prioritise safety for women
- Provide holistic, trauma-informed legal services including legal advice, information, referrals, casework and court representation
- Provide duty lawyer services (DV Courts and Federal Circuit Courts)
- Participate in community legal education and law reform work
Key requirements for successful applicants
- Minimum of 3 years PAE
- Experience working in the areas of domestic violence, family law and child protection and ensuring safety of women is prioritised
- Experience working with vulnerable members of the community including women whose first language is not English, women with a disability, women in crisis, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women and older women.
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated passion and commitment to ensure NQWLS services are experienced as empowering by women
- Experience in working is a WLS or CLC is highly desirable
An attractive salary package will be offered, including salary sacrifice arrangements, in line with experience and suitability for the position. SACS Employees Award, with ERO, is applicable.
About NQWLS
NQWLS is a not-for-profit specialist community legal service run by women, for women. Since 1996, we have helped vulnerable women living in rural, regional, remote communities stretching from Mackay, north to the Torres Strait and west to the Northern Territory border – the top half of Queensland. Last year, around 15,000 free legal services were delivered. We work closely with community partners across the region, to enhance access to our services.
