About the role

Merri-bek Libraries is a responsive and agile library service, providing services to our diverse community. Currently we are seeking a Social Worker to join our team.

The Library Social Worker will;

  • Refine procedures and protocols for dealing with library customers experiencing complex social issues
  • Work with library and security staff to build capacity in dealing with people experiencing complex issues
  • Engage with community members in need and assist them to access appropriate services
  • Develop relationships with relevant organisations and understand referral pathways

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker who can meet people where they are at. If you have a person-centred approach and a genuine desire to make a difference to the lives of the people of Merri-bek, we would like to hear from you.

Skills and experience require to perform the role

  • Demonstrated ability to effect change in organisational procedure and protocol
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work
  • Significant experience in client services including issues such as homelessness, addiction, mental wellbeing
  • In-depth knowledge of trauma informed care and a person-centred approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
