The primary purpose of a Digital Organiser is to use technology to grow digital communities, build leaders and union structures to connect with and expand the reach of field organising campaigns.

Key accountabilities:

  • Create and implement digital organising plans to increase online engagement, membership and activism in support of campaign goals
  • Map and analyse online communities connected to key workplaces, employers or groups to identify opportunities for membership growth or leader identification
  • Identify member leaders by engaging them in a range of digital campaigns
  • Develop member leaders to mobilise members, potential members and other stakeholders to execute online tactics that achieve collective outcomes
  • Develop member-led online networks and communities to expand the reach of organising campaigns.
  • Identify, develop and support groups of member leaders to administer, run and build their own online communities and networks
  • Test, develop and maintain methods to systematically follow up leads and online conversations created by digital and other campaigns
  • Ensure integration between digital campaigns and tools (eg. Aged Care Watch) and non-digital organising campaign strategies and tactics
  • Test and implement digital means of retaining and developing engaged members and leaders in sites without dedicated field organising resources
  • Develop pathways to membership from online engagement
  • Work in successfully close coordination with Communications team, Private Sector and Aged Care Organising Teams, Membership Team and other NSWNMA teams as necessary, to ensure alignment with Strategic plan goals and to maximise opportunities to build membership and leadership 

Desirable skills knowledge and experience

  • Exceptional communication and team skills
  • Nursing or midwifery experience or alternatively a strong understanding of the nursing and midwifery profession
  • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, working with diverse groups of people across different functional teams
  • Knowledge of a variety of a variety of digital platforms and tools
