The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) in association with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation New South Wales Branch (ANMF NSW Branch) seeks an Member Support Officer to join our Member Rights Centre (MRC) on a permanent full-time basis.

You will be working for a highly respected association and one of the strongest and largest unions nationally. We have a successful track record of being a strong advocate for our members which is evident by our year-on-year membership growth.

In this role you will:

  • To provide industrial and professional service for the membership.
  • Provide information advice to individual members and continuously improve service delivery.
  • Provide representation at workplace level for individual members and specific member groups
  • Participate and assist in organising around workplace issues
  • Negotiate and follow up with management to achieve outcomes for individual members
  • Participate in strategies to recruit and retain members and identify potential new activist or member groups
  • Identify potential for and forms new branches where appropriate
  • Provide written reports as requested for Council and Committee of Delegates and or Elected Officers
  • Contribute positively to the MRC culture, support team members and work collaboratively with teams.

To be considered for this position you require:

Essential:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the union movement
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse individual member issues, articulate complex issues clearly and produce a high standard of complex correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex issues simultaneously and prioritise competing workplace demands
  • Good written and oral communication skills and aptitude to ensure up-to-date and accurate case notes
  • Understanding of industrial relations in the workplace
  • PC and office administration skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Full Drivers’ Licence
  • Eligibility to obtain a Federal Right of Entry permit.

Desirable

  • Recognised nursing qualification
  • Experience working in a health-related field
  • Experience working in a union and or industrial environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications i.e. Industrial Relations, Law, Management
  • Ability to speak a second language
