About the Legal Aid NT:

Our purpose is to ensure that people in the Northern Territory understand their legal rights and disadvantaged people have access to quality legal services, and to uphold a fair Northern Territory and national justice system.

About the role:

Under the direction of the Social Support Manager, the Financial Counsellor is responsible for providing financial counselling information, advice, and assistance to Legal Aid NT clients who have experienced family violence as part of an integrated, holistic, and client-focused service. This position will assist Legal Aid NT to fulfil all obligations pursuant to funding agreements ensuring the service is compliant with all regulatory bodies.

About you:

You will be an experienced Financial Counsellor with a minimum of 5 years of experience, with a sound knowledge of consumer banking, financial systems, and relevant legislation. You will have an understanding of domestic and family violence and its impacts on personal and financial wellbeing.

You will bring a high-level of interpersonal, active listening, and analytical skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Your oral and written communication skills will enable you to effectively engage with vulnerable individuals, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, refugee, and migrant backgrounds.
