Context & Purpose of Role
We are launching key projects in 2025, including a refugee-focused project, cancer awareness initiative, and a community-building programme in Sri Lanka. To support these exciting initiatives, we seek a skilled and committed Melbourne-based Events Coordinator. This role is key to our growth, involving the planning and execution of impactful events that align with our mission. The successful candidate will work in a team and help manage logistics, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure each event strengthens our community and partnerships.

Time Commitment
- 5 to 7 hours a week in total (2 hours face-to-face attendance at Ondru Studio or pop-up office location in CBD on a weeknight)
- Face-to-face attendance at a monthly workshop (5 hours on a weekend)
- A minimum commitment for a period of 6 months
- Must be Melbourne-based to ensure connectivity
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The position is responsible for:
- Event Management: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of events from start to finish, ensuring smooth delivery.
- Calendar Development: Assist in the creation and maintenance of the event calendar, ensuring all events are scheduled effectively.
- Marketing: Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team members to develop and implement impactful promotional strategies.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, external partners, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Resource Management: Support the procurement of venues, speakers, performers, and other logistical needs to facilitate successful events.
- Compliance: Ensure all events comply with OH&S standards and regulations.
- Post-Event Evaluation: Contribute to post-event reviews, providing insights for continuous improvement and future event success.

- A passion for people and a strong commitment to the purpose and values of Ondru.
- Demonstrated sound experience in events management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, “hands-on” approach with the ability to take initiative and drive results.
- High levels of personal and professional integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficient in computer literacy, with access to your own laptop.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
To be successful in this position it is preferred that you have:
- Tertiary qualification (or studying towards one) in relevant field;
- Open-minded with a willingness to challenge your own thinking and have the ability to adapt and be flexible to the changing needs of the organisation;
- Be committed to working in a team environment while promoting respect, inclusivity and collaboration; and
- Be hard-working, hands on, energetic and vibrant.
