Context & Purpose of Role

We are launching key projects in 2025, including a refugee-focused project, cancer awareness initiative, and an international community-building programme. To support these exciting initiatives, we are seeking a talented and passionate Social Media Coordinator to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by developing dynamic social media content, creating digital marketing content, and engaging with our diverse community. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting our projects and building brand awareness. Ondru is a Melbourne-based, non-profit humanitarian organisation dedicated to creating a more compassionate, connected, and equitable society. We recognise that many communities—especially those who are displaced, marginalised, and disenfranchised—face significant barriers to equitable opportunities, representation, and social inclusion. Through pioneering art projects, Ondru provides a powerful platform for these communities to share their stories, experiences, and voices. Our mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the human condition, inspire meaningful discussion, and enable reconciliation.

Time Commitment

  • 5 to 7 hours a week in total (2 hours face-to-face attendance at Ondru Studio or pop-up office location in CBD on a weeknight)
  • Face-to-face attendance at a monthly workshop (5 hours on a weekend)
  • A minimum commitment for a period of 6 months
  • Must be Melbourne-based to ensure connectivity

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The position is responsible for:

  • Content Development: Craft compelling digital content for projects and events, ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and branding.
  • Marketing & Promotions: Develop and execute promotional strategies to maximise engagement and attendance at upcoming events.
  • Social Media & Digital Engagement: Manage content across digital platforms, drive audience interaction, and produce a monthly newsletter. Create digital media content, and other assets to enhance engagement in collaboration with our graphic designers.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to maintain clear, aligned messaging and outreach.
  • Fundraising & Sponsorship Support: Assist in developing persuasive campaign messaging to attract donors, corporate sponsors, and other funding opportunities.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A passion for people and a strong commitment to the purpose and values of Ondru.
  • Demonstrated sound experience in social media marketing & communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, “hands-on” approach with the ability to take initiative and drive results.
  • High levels of personal and professional integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficient in computer literacy, with access to your own laptop.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position it is preferred that you have:

  • Tertiary qualification (or studying towards one) in relevant field;
  • Open-minded with a willingness to challenge your own thinking and have the ability to adapt and be flexible to the changing needs of the organisation;
  • Be committed to working in a team environment while promoting respect, inclusivity and collaboration; and
  • Be hard-working, hands on, energetic and vibrant.
