about the role

The Principal Executive Officer will be highly organised, focused and proactive, delivering high-quality executive support services, including providing strategic and operational advice to facilitate informed decision making. Leading an executive team with three direct reports, the Principal Executive Officer will develop high level documents and will manage all workflows from business units to the senior executive.

key responsibilities:

  • Manage the executive support team to deliver multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities.
  • Engage in analysis and prepare associated documents on specific issues as required by the Public Guardian, including correspondence, briefing notes, and speaking points within short timeframes.
  • Consult with agency staff and brief the Public Guardian both verbally and in writing on emergent and critical issues that may require sensitive management or immediate attention.
  • Provide high level quality assurance and critical analysis of briefs, correspondence, and submissions to ensure accuracy in both content and presentation (including data verification), and alignment with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Build a detailed knowledge of OPG’s strategic priorities, operational service delivery and emerging issues, and lead projects on behalf of the Public Guardian.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Display strong personal accountability to deliver high quality work under pressure and manage issues of a confidential, sensitive and contentious nature with discretion.

Tertiary qualifications in, or relevant work experience relating to, law or policy is highly desirable.
