about the role
As the Senior Investigations Officer you will conduct investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation or the appropriateness and adequacy of decision‑making arrangements for adults with impaired decision making capacity. You will undertake protective activities in a timely and outcome-focused manner.
key responsibilities:
- Undertake investigations relating to:
- allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation; and
- the appropriateness and/or the adequacy of decision‑making arrangements of adults with impaired decision‑making capacity.
- Provide advice to investigators, attorneys, administrators and informal decision makers on the responsibilities of making decisions for adults with impaired decision-making capacity.
- Prepare investigation reports and recommendations, including making recommendations to take protective actions.
- Negotiate high levels of conflict with interested parties and stakeholders to reach informal and formal outcomes.
- Appear before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal or other relevant tribunals/courts, as required.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders and team members, contributing to a multi‑disciplinary workplace that behaves in an ethical, respectful and culturally sensitive manner.
mandatory qualification and conditions
You must possess a C class driver’s licence.
A Certificate IV or Diploma in Government Investigations, or tertiary qualifications relating to investigations, social, health, behavioural sciences or related disciplines is desirable.
The role requires travel throughout the State, including overnight stays, where necessary.
The incumbent may be required to work hours outside the normal work hours.
