THE COMPANY
You will be working for a Northern Beaches based, not-for-profit organisation which provides life-changing residential programs for public school children across NSW and the ACT.
Educational programs, including excursions, aim to develop the participants’ social and emotional skills, build self-esteem and improve their overall well-being, and in addition to this, all children are provided with a range of health checks, screening and treatment during their stay.
Partially funded by the Department of Education, the programs are also reliant on grants and charitable donations in order to ensure that children across the state can continue to access this life-changing experience.
The Role
Working collaboratively with the Marketing Executive and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Fundraising Manager/Grant Writer is responsible for securing grant funding, as well as supporting and implementing the current and expanding individual, corporate and organisation giving programs. With a strong and successful background in securing grant funding and general fundraising, you will be pivotal in ensuring the continued success of the organisation.
Duties
- Identify funding opportunities and write grant submissions.
- Devise, execute and oversee a well-structured fundraising strategy that encompasses formal donor cultivation and stewardship programs.
- Co-ordinate and compile submissions to Trusts, Foundations, Government, local Government bodies and other potential donors.
- Develop and maintain key, strong and trusted marketing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners including initial sponsorship negotiations.
- Liaise with designers, copywriters and printers to ensure deadlines are met and work delivered is in-line with briefs and the organisation’s corporate identity.
- Source and implement fundraising database software, in addition to existing finance systems, to enhance donor relationship management and facilitate improved donation tracking and analytics in order to optimise fundraising efforts and donor engagement.
- Manage the implementation of the organisation’s Gift Acceptance Policy and Gift Recognition and Stewardship Policy for donations.
Skills and Experience
- Degree level qualifications in a relevant marketing or business discipline.
- Experience in Grant applications, with a flair for writing and creating compelling business cases.
- Fundraising experience, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, with a strong track record of achieving targets within set timeframes.
- Outstanding organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Awareness of the importance of data integrity and accuracy & experience working with a range of systems
- Proven ability to effectively manage and control work undertaken by agencies and suppliers.
- Effective relationship management skills, knowledge and understanding of best practice fundraising.
- An ability to support the individual donor journey, including retention, upgrade and reactivation.
- a NSW Driver's license.
- a current Working with Children Check.
