The Tasmanian Government has passed historic new legislation creating the first Disability Commissioner for Tasmania. This will be an independent statutory appointment to advance and safeguard the human rights of people with disability and progress the full and effective inclusion of people with disability.
For over two years the Tasmanian Government consulted and worked alongside Tasmanians with disability to ensure their voices and experiences guided and informed the creation of the legislation and the role of the Disability Commissioner to create a safer and more inclusive Tasmania for people living with disability.
