About the job

The Assistant Accountant will work with all members of the financial accounting team to help Orygen’s processes run smoothly and accurately.

Reporting to the Financial Controller you will:

  • Prepare bank reconciliations, perform project distribution journals and update the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Support accounts receivable through issuing invoices/receipts, recording income for sales and donates, managing outstanding debts and prepare reconciliations when required.
  • Support accounts payable functions such as coding purchase invoices, management of credit cards and Purchase Orders.
  • Managing finance ticketing system, assisting in the management of the Travel Portal.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the finance team and broader organisation.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Relevant Tertiary Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent practical experience in accounting/bookkeeping.
  • Strong time management and analytic skills with a high level of accuracy in data entry, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Prior accounting experience is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A customer service ethic and demonstrated ability to maintain excellent customer and client relations.
