About the job

The Orygen Recovery (YPARC) is an emerging sub-acute bed-based residential 24-hour, 7-days a week program supporting young people aged 15-25 stepping up/down to intervene early and prevent further deterioration.

Reporting to Clinical Team Leader you will:

  • Deliver sub-acute, recovery-focused mental health care for young people (16-25) and families, aiming to prevent the need for inpatient care.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk and mental state assessments, manage crises, and provide psychoeducation on mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with Youth Wellbeing workers, young people, and families to ensure holistic and supportive care throughout the recovery process.
  • Support smooth entry and exit transitions to/from the Youth Prevention & Recovery Care (YPARC) service, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Engage in various YPARC life activities to promote safe, family-oriented, and consumer-focused care for young people in recovery.

Availability across Monday-Friday morning and afternoon shifts is required. Availability to work weekends will be highly desirable.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work and occupational therapy and registration with AHPRA or eligibility for AASW registration.
  • Base clinical skills, including mental state examinations, risk assessments, and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of youth mental health, relevant legislation, and experience working in mental health services or similar roles (e.g., acute/sub-acute services).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
  • Proficient computer skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and continuous learning in mental health practice.
