Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Philanthropy Manager. Reporting to the Chief, Philanthropy and Engagement, you will lead and manage the philanthropy program, focusing on cultivating and securing major gifts. In this role, you will play a key part in driving sustained growth and supporting the ongoing work of Ovarian Cancer Australia.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and their families affected by ovarian cancer. The position is offered at 0.8FTE (30.4 hours per week).

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy to grow philanthropic revenue, aligning goals with the broader organisational strategy.
  • Create and execute strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors.
  • Achieve financial and non-financial targets on time and within budget, in accordance with established KPIs.
  • External and internal stakeholder management including working cross-functionally to ensure transparency of plans, prospects and opportunities.
  • Represent OCA in a professional capacity at relevant meetings, committees and events.
  • Maintain the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to record all case management related activities, in accordance with privacy guidelines.
  • Report progress periodically as required, including to OCA’s Board.
  • Initiate and build an OCA Bequest giving model.
  • Contribute to initiatives related to donors, Wills and Bequests, and Trusts and Foundations.
  • Work in collaboration with the wider OCA team to support projects, campaigns and other activities.

What you will bring to this position

Essential:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations or similar role focused on philanthropy within the not-for-profit sector.
  • At least three years’ experience working directly with mid-level to major donors.
  • Experience in developing and implementing moves management approaches.
  • Demonstrated strong capability in proactively and strategically managing and growing a philanthropy and bequest portfolio, overseeing progress and risks, and identifying new avenues to raise funds.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, persuasive proposals, reports and communications tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in pursuit of shared goals, fostering collaboration and open communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • CRM (Salesforce preferred) experience.
  • Degree and/or equivalent experience in a related discipline.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in not-for-profit, advocacy, or peak body organisations, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these fields.
