About the Role

Reporting into the CEO and to the Board, this position is responsible for managing all people and culture functions for PANDA. The role includes a broad range of responsibilities suited to a HR leader with a passion for people and creating a great culture through quality improvement approaches.

This role requires someone with strong business acumen who can take a whole-of-organisation view, think strategically, and be prepared to make recommendations that are thought through and defensible. Driving systematised human resources and people management across the entire organisational ‘life cycle’, you will be responsible for transforming PANDA’s people management approach to continue to meet the needs of the business.

The People & Culture Manager will have proven experience in overseeing and undertaking quality improvement activities to enhance the experience of all staff. Working in a values-based Leadership Team, operating in a matrixed management style, this role will represent and oversight this key area of the business in an authentic and collaborative manner.

Key Details

  • Permanent part time role - 0.6 FTE (22.8 hours per week)
  • Work from home anywhere in VIC but must be able to regularly travel into the Fitzroy office
  • SCHADS Award level 8.1 - $60.90 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Project and time management with ability to utilise a growth mindset to meet competing deadlines
  • Performance driven leadership where a passion for people melds with clarity of expectations and accountability to ensure staff understand role expectations and remain in scope
  • Always maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with related policies and procedures
  • Manage the implementation and oversight of PANDA’s new Recruitment and Retention Framework and related Plan
  • Partner with managers in talent acquisition, restructure, and recruitment processes
  • End to end responsibility for HR function and employee lifecycle, including generating formal correspondence, and partnering with HR outsource provider where necessary
  • Oversee staff contracts and work with the Finance & Contracting Manager to ensure compliance with the SCHADS Award and Fair Work Australia
  • Oversee staffing issues providing HR leadership including the management of industrial, performance and structural issues that may arise with the CEO.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law, HR, and workplace regulations.
  • Provide advice to the CEO, the PANDA Board, the FAR Committee, and associated working groups, and other staff regarding HR policies, procedures, planning and monitoring.

Essential Certifications & Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification in HR, Management, or related discipline
  • Willing to undergo Australian Criminal History Check
  • Current Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check for employment
  • Evidence of the right to work in Australia

Key Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years proven experience in Human Resources Management role
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR statutory and legislative requirements applicable to a not-for-profit entity
  • Experience developing and monitoring people and culture in the not-for-profit sector
  • Very high-level computer and system technical skills including Microsoft 365 suite, Xero, Employment Hero and other related quality systems
