Established in 1999, Parents Beyond Breakup is a National Suicide Prevention Charity focused on supporting separating parents with custody and access issues to their children.

As a charity registered with ACNC, we provide Lived-Experience peer support services, suicide prevention training and a national helpline as support for Dads, Mums and grandparents.
Role requirements and criteria for selection:
Applications are invited from individuals who have demonstrated high level of skills/experience in any of the following areas:
- Financial management/governance*
- *Abundant financial literacy/experience be that bookkeeping, accounting, finance managing, auditing etc.
- Legal expertise a bonus
- Large-scale project management experience a bonus
In addition to the above specialised skills, interested director candidates should have/be:
- A good understanding of the governance role of a NFP director
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with other directors
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working in the Suicide Prevention space
- Lived Experience of Family Breakdown, and/or child custody issues will be highly regarded
- Based anywhere in Australia -as all work is remote- but we especially welcome applications from WA, SA, NT to widen the geographic spread of our directors as well as have someone local if needed for an event or media
Primary role includes:
- Contribute in setting and driving the strategic direction of the organisation
- Willingness to commit to 1-3 years, based on candidate's appetite.
- Understand, govern and oversee the organisation’s overall operations and performance
- Provide advice, opinions, and independent judgement to inform Board decisions
- Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings (80% attendance rate required), Annual General Meeting, strategic planning, and all out of scope meetings as required.
- Involvement in Board subcommittee and take responsibility in the areas of expertise when needed.
Appointment to the role of Director is subject to successful police clearance, after successful interviews with existing Board of Directors.
All new Board Members are required to comply with all legal requirements under ASIC and ACNC; and provide their directors ID number (DIN) or be willing to obtain one.
