Multiagency Investigation Support Team

The Multi-Agency Investigation and Support Team (MIST) provides essential trauma-informed services for children and their families, tailored to the highly complex needs of sexual abuse survivors. This program is an innovative and holistic approach to the support of children (and their families), who have experienced sexual abuse and is based at the Stan and Jean Perron Child Advocacy Centre – our purpose-built headquarters in Midland, and the George Jones Child Advocacy Centre in Armadale. MIST delivers integrated services to survivors, combining acute, trauma-informed, response recovery support, with a long-term therapeutic care program. MISTs provide a response where the child and family are central, and their needs are supported through different stages of treatment and recovery.

About the Role

We have secured funding to develop a therapeutic program and clinical interventions for children and young people impacted by Homicide. This pilot project provides the right person with the opportunity to lead and develop an innovative and responsive model that supports healing and recovery. This project will develop a strong evidence base to help inform how we can support children and young people impacted by homicide.

This role is offered on a Fixed Term, full-time contract.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment of the children, young people and adults that access the service.
  • Develop, organise, and undertake therapeutic interventions (individual and group) such as educative, psychotherapy and cognitive behaviour programmes with children, young people and adults.
  • Manage a caseload of identified children, young people, adults and/or families that you provide services for (assessment and interventions).

Skills required:

  • Formal university qualifications in the field of Psychology and ability for full registration with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated therapeutic skills, including assessment, treatment planning and intervention skills in regard to children, youth and adults.
  • Excellent self-management skills and ability to work with a significant degree of autonomy in a team environment.

Benefits:

  • HPPS Level H2 – H2R - $42.03 - $43.63, dependent on applicant
  • Clinical supervision will be provided by APHRA board approved registered supervisors.
