ORGANISATION CONTEXT

PartnerSPEAK provides advocacy and support for the non-offending partner and family, friend or anyone else who is affected by a persons involvement in child sexual abuse and child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

PartnerSPEAK was founded by individuals who had been affected by their partners’ involvement in child abuse material. It was founded to support others in similar situations. PartnerSPEAK offers confidential peer support, information, and advocacy.

PartnerSPEAK is the only organisation in Australia, and one of few in the world, to work with families affected by CSAM. We are a world-leader and are leading Australia’s policy and response to affected family members (AFMs).

ROLE PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the peer support worker is to provide peer support for non-offending partners and affected family members of perpetrators of CSAM and/or CSA. Support of our community is offered via our Peer line, online peer support forum, face-to-face and online support group gatherings, webchat and individual peer support whilst navigating the criminal justice system (e.g. at warrant or court etc).

Peer support workers uphold and model the values of PartnerSPEAK and Intentional Peer Support.

This role is a remote working position, the ideal candidate can work from home anywhere in Australia with a preference for the East Coast.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant lived experience (has been impacted by a partner, friend or family member’s involvement in child abuse and/or child abuse material).
  • Exceptional communication and reflective practice skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritise work and show initiative
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records
  • Computer literacy and written communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Previous Intentional Peer Support experience providing written and verbal peer support

Essential attributes:

  • Commitment to participate in the workplace in ways that values connection, mutuality and open communication
  • Strong understanding of self and capacity
  • Belief in the rights of the affected family members of perpetrators of CSAM
  • Commitment to inclusivity, equity, and diversity.

Qualifications/registration requirements:

  • Intentional Peer Support course – core training (required) or completed within the first twelve months of the role.
  • Working With Children’s Check (employee) and Police Check

ALL EMPLOYEES OF PARTNERSPEAK ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW SPECIFIC COMMON CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT.

All employees of PartnerSPEAK are required to follow specific common conditions of employment. These are outlined in the PartnerSPEAK Policy and Procedures Manual. A summary is listed below:

  • All appointments to PartnerSPEAK are subject to reference checks, pre-employment criminal record checks and Working with Children Checks. Some positions may also be subject to a medical check.
  • PartnerSPEAK promotes flexible working arrangements, and regular working hours will be negotiated. From time to time, some out-of-hours work may be required.
  • Salary is set in accordance with the relevant Award and classification. Salaries quoted are exclusive of superannuation. PartnerSPEAK employees have access to salary sacrifice.
  • Appointment is subject to a three-month probationary period, at which point performance will be reviewed prior to the expiry of the probationary period and an ongoing employment decision will be communicated.
  • Leave entitlements are as per the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 and HR Policy guidelines which include the ability for staff to purchase two weeks additional leave.

Conduct must be in line with the organisational values, Code of Conduct, Employment Contract, Confidentiality Agreement and other PartnerSPEAK policies and procedures.
