Independent Board Director (Voluntary Position) - PayPal Giving Australia

PayPal Giving Fund

What you need to know about the position

PayPal Giving Fund is a registered charity that aims to inspire a new wave of philanthropy, harnessing the power of technology to make giving a part of everyday life. Since launching in 2018 PayPal Giving Fund has granted over $230M AUD to more than 6000 Australian charities.

Working with leading online businesses, PayPal Giving Fund raises millions in donations each year to benefit thousands of Australian charities. Supported by PayPal and our partners, we enable charities and individual donors to benefit from our services free of charge. We provide donation and donor reports, aggregate donations for monthly electronic distribution, and handle legal registration requirements.

We are now working to grow the charity through a deeper and more strategic partnership with PayPal, growing our operations to enable rapid growth, and creating new partnerships with other leading internet businesses.

Relationship between PayPal Giving Fund and PayPal

PayPal Giving Fund Australia receives grant funding in support of its charitable mission from PayPal Charitable Giving Fund (“PPGF US”), a public charity in the U.S., which also appoints our board members. We use this funding to cover our operating costs including the employment costs of PayPal staff in Australia who are formally seconded from PayPal Australia to carry out our work. In reimbursing PayPal Australia for these costs, we pay market rate remuneration for the role, consisting of a competitive base salary and reasonable benefits. PayPal, Inc., a listed US company, provides grant funding to PPGF US in support of its charitable mission, and appoints its board members.
